L'essentiel Online interviews Ray Luzier

The following is a Google-translated article with minor revisions by me. Enjoy!

L'essentiel Online - «On est toujours un groupe passionné» - Concerts & soirées: On June 5th, the Rockhal will the the home of the legendary nu-metal group, Korn. Here's an interview with Ray Luzier, who will be returning to the drumkit.

The Bottom Line: You replaced the former drummer David Sivleria, Korn's latest album is your first within the group. How did your integration within the band go?

When you merge, you either get along or you divorce. Within the group, it went well and after some initial difficulties, the fans have come to accept me.

An album that brings you back to basics ...

Yes, the band worked again with producer Ross Robinson. The album "Korn III - Remember Who You Are" is very old school, no machines. We wrote a song in 45 minutes and recorded just right after. We wanted to capture the emotion of the moment and not have an over-polished song.

In what direction will the sound of Korn grow in the future?

We have just released the song "Get Up" which is also on our new EP. Jonathan (the singer) sometimes plays as a DJ and one day he came across DJ Skrillex. He contacted him and we created this song with dubstep and metal/rock styled together. We are not afraid to experiment. We have to be in tune with what we feel at the time.

A way forward for your next album?

Possible. There are no limits. The style depends on what we feel when we make a record. So we'll see.

You're touring a lot this year, but a new album is already planned for 2012. How do you do it?

We write a lot when we're on the road. Sometimes, Jonathan comes into my bus at three o'clock in the morning to present an idea. Korn is still a passionate group even after being around for such a long time.

The Foo Fighters have released their latest album on the Internet first before taking it out on CD, this has not impeded success. You could you imagine doing the same?

The business has changed so much! Me, I'm assuming that you buy an album to support a group. I love the Deftones for example. I bought five copies of the latest album and had them delivered to friends just to support them. But the idea that the Foo Fighters had was great. Maybe we will do the same, but we have not yet decided how to release our next album.
