JD on Fans & inspiration of 'Get Up'

NME: Speaking to Kerrang!, Jonathan Davis said he and his band were tired of being known as "the godfathers of nu metal" and that some of their fans were "stuck in 1994".

Asked if he was worried about people's reaction to 'The Path Of Totality', Davis replied: "People are going to be pissed about this record. That's made me even more excited about it. I don't give a flying fuck what people think. We can't win with Korn fans. Some are so stuck in 1994."

The singer also blasted people who wanted his band to simply rehash their older material and said they were sick of their tag as the inventors of the nu-metal genre. He said: "Everybody calls us the godfathers of nu-metal and I'm fucking tired of that. We don't want to join the nostalgia circuit. Us, Limp Bizkit, Staind or some shit like that. Fuck that."

The singer added that he believed his band had invented a new genre of music on the album, which he calls "future metal" and revealed that the band's recent single 'Get Up' was inspired by his hatred of everybody moaning about the recession.

He said of this: 'Get Up' is about the recession. I wish everyone would shut the fuck up and have some fun. Every day I've got to hear about unemployment and people starving.
