Korn’s past its best-before date - thestar.com: Word from the promoter heading into Thursday night’s stop of the “Music as a Weapon” tour at the Air Canada Centre had Disturbed taking the headlining slot over Korn, which made sense if you’re aware that Disturbed was responsible for creating the whole “Weapon” franchise in the first place 10 years ago — or, I guess, if you’re a Disturbed fan — but was just further reason to wonder why Korn even bothers anymore if you’re well acquainted with the latter band’s decline.

Korn has its share of haters, but it was a genuine trailblazer and an utterly rogue mainstream success story back when it rode its itchy, antisocial bastard breed of heavy metal into the popular consciousness circa Woodstock ’99. Whatever you think of the genre, Korn stands alongside System of a Down as one of the pillars of what became known as “nu-metal” that has no cause for embarrassment in its early discography.
